Legal Framework

ZDR
The Forgotten Children of War Association has built an international reputation as a leader in breaking the silence on the issue of children born as a result of war. The organization has successfully implemented its goals in Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly in breaking the social and legal invisibility of this vulnerable group.
These efforts have resulted in the adoption of two laws that recognize children born as a result of war-related sexual violence as civilian victims of war, granting them additional rights in line with international standards. The laws in the Brčko District and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina have set a precedent in the international legal framework and have enabled Bosnia and Herzegovina to become a model for the application of good practices. However, with this achievement comes a great responsibility for Bosnia and Herzegovina to consistently implement the law at all levels of government, while ensuring equal conditions for all children born as a result of war, regardless of their geographical location or ethnicity.
