The Forgotten children of war Association (ZDR) is a non-partisan, non-governmental and non-profit organization operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina. ZDR is a human rights organization and the initiator of a topic that has been pushed out of legal and social everyday life for years. As the first Association in the world to deal with this topic with the mechanisms mentioned above, the Association states as important its identity “drivers of visibility of the invisible”, which means giving a voice to those categories that have been systematically forced into silence.
As its key value, the Association lists:
Solidarity towards women survivors of wartime rape and other wartime tortures
Zero tolerance policy on violence toward women
A woman is never to blame for violence
Violence toward women must not be a part of war strategy
A woman is not a territory through which „wars are won “
Equal treatment toward marginalized groups
Equal rights for all (human rights as the basic foundation for society as well as country)
The basic principles of the Association are good will, openness, diversity, tolerance and democracy. The Association also cites work principals such as: solidarity among marginalized groups, empowerment of women, empowerment of children born of war, innovative work and approach, transparency within the team as well as towards others, integrity, user oriented, using activism as a way of influencing, creating a safe space for women, women survivors, children born of war and other marginalized groups, work consistency and dedication to achieving the goals set forth.
