Following its premiere performance in Tuzla in April 2026, the docu-dance theatre performance “In the Name of the Father”, created and directed by Darrel Toulon, is coming to Sarajevo with a new generation of young performers.
The performance will take place on 21 September 2026 at Sarajevo War Theatre – SARTR, starting at 8:00 PM.
“In the Name of the Father” combines movement, documentary material and personal testimonies to open a space for dialogue about identity, belonging, stigma and the need to hear stories that have remained on the margins of society for decades.
The performance explores the need to know who we are and where we come from, the silence we often learn while growing up, the fear of rejection, and every person’s right to know, understand and accept their own story.
A new generation of performers brings a fresh artistic expression while preserving the authenticity and emotional depth of this performance about children born of war, which has created space for testimony, empathy and confrontation with difficult truths since its very first staging.
On stage, young artists take on the responsibility of speaking about a subject that has long been suppressed, silenced and marked by social stigma.
At a time when silence is often the easier choice, “In the Name of the Father” raises questions that are not always easy to answer:
What happens when we do not know the story of the person sitting next to us?
How many opportunities for understanding do we lose simply because we do not talk to one another?
And how important is it to create a space where everyone can be accepted for everything they are?
