Educational Class Held at “Hasib Hadžović” Technical Secondary School in Goražde

ZDR

On 25 May 2026, the Association Forgotten Children of War organized an educational class at the “Hasib Hadžović” Technical Secondary School in Goražde.

As part of the event, Alen Muhić delivered a lecture on conflict-related sexual violence and its long-term consequences. Through a discussion with students, he shared his personal life story and spoke about the importance of raising awareness of the experiences and rights of children born as a consequence of wartime sexual violence.

The event held special significance as Alen Muhić was born in Goražde and attended the very school where the lecture took place. This was the first time he had the opportunity to address students and staff at his former school.

The class was organized in cooperation with history teacher Admir Kurtović and was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education, Youth, Science, Culture and Sports of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton Goražde, led by Minister Adisa Alikadić-Herić.

Through open dialogue and personal testimony, students had the opportunity to learn more about conflict-related sexual violence, human rights, remembrance culture, and the importance of building a society based on understanding, empathy, and respect for human dignity.

The educational class was organized within the project “Building Sustainable Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Investing in the Future”, jointly implemented by BIRN BiH, the Srebrenica Memorial Center, and the Association Forgotten Children of War, with the support of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Peacebuilding Fund (PBF).
