A representative of the Association “Forgotten Children of War” participated on April 14, 2026, in a consultative meeting organized by the Delegation of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the preparation of the European Commission’s 2026 Report on Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The consultative meeting brought together key stakeholders working in the fields of human rights, democracy, rule of law, and reform processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including representatives of civil society organizations, international partners, and professional associations. Participants included representatives of Transparency International, the “Pod lupom” Coalition, the Foreign Investors Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other
organizations actively contributing to the process of European integration and institutional reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the meeting, discussions focused on key challenges and current developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the context of European integration, with particular emphasis on the rule of law, the protection of fundamental human rights, the functioning of institutions, and the role of civil society organizations in monitoring reform processes and advocating for systemic change.
The Association “Forgotten Children of War” actively contributed to the consultation process by submitting a written contribution to the Delegation of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The document included key findings derived from the Association’s monitoring activities, an overview of challenges in the implementation of the relevant legal framework, as well as concrete recommendations aimed at improving the rights and position of children born as a consequence of conflict-related sexual violence in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The participation of the Association “Forgotten Children of War” in this process represents an important step in efforts to ensure that issues concerning children born as a consequence of conflict-related sexual violence are adequately recognized within Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European integration process, particularly in the areas of human rights protection, non-discrimination, and the advancement of vulnerable groups. Through active engagement in consultative processes, the Association continues to advocate for institutional solutions and policies grounded in rights, dignity, and the recognition of lived experiences.
