The President of the Association “Forgotten Children of War”, Ajna Jusić, participated as a speaker at the educational workshop titled “Experiences, Challenges, and Examples of Good Practice in the Implementation of the Law on the Protection of Civilian Victims of War in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Exercising the Rights of a Special Category of Civilian Victims of War, Including Children Born of Wartime Rape”, held on December 18 and 19, 2025, in Sarajevo and organized by the Association Medica Zenica.

As part of the first day of the workshop, Ajna Jusić delivered a presentation titled “Experiences, Good Practices, and Challenges in the Implementation of the Law on the Protection of Civilian Victims of War in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina – The Perspective of Children Born of Wartime Rape”. During her presentation, she shared insights gained through years of advocacy work, institutional cooperation, and direct engagement with children born as a consequence of conflict-related sexual violence.

Particular focus was placed on experiences in the implementation of legal provisions to date, positive institutional developments, as well as the ongoing challenges that continue to hinder the full realization of the rights of children born of wartime rape. The importance of consistent implementation of the legal framework, interinstitutional cooperation, and additional sensitization of relevant stakeholders involved in rights-implementation processes for this vulnerable category was emphasized.

The workshop brought together representatives of relevant institutions, civil society organizations, and experts working in the field of protection of civilian victims of war, creating space for the exchange of experiences, professional expertise, and examples of good practice aimed at improving existing mechanisms of protection and support.

The participation of the President of the Association “Forgotten Children of War” as a speaker at this event represented an important opportunity for the voices of children born as a consequence of conflict-related sexual violence to be directly included in professional and institutional discussions on the implementation of legislation and the improvement of existing policies. At the same time, it reaffirmed the importance of continuous advocacy and the inclusion of lived experiences in decision-making processes directly affecting the realization of their rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
