THE ‘1325’ MOVEMENT STARTS WITH YOU!

THE MOST COURAGEOUS ACT IS STILL TO THINK FOR YOURSELF. ALOUD.” – COCO CHANEL

Participation of women in peace processes is important for achieving sustainable peace. Movement 1325 is a call for young women aged 18 to 25 from Bosnia and Herzegovina to take firm and courageous steps in order to ensure their own safety.

Are you ready to motivate and inspire yourself, as well as other young women to participate in shaping of the peace and security processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina? Would you like to be part of a project that empowers young women to overcome patriarchal obstacles and expand their knowledge in the field of leadership? If so, join the “Movement 1325” project and let your voice be heard!

The movement aims to ensure that women no longer feel less valuable in the political and social spheres. Young women will create opportunities for themselves to speak louder and use their voices to influence peace processes. This program will be a safe and inclusive space for young women to share experiences, ideas and support one another. Together, they will create road maps for achieving peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and promoting stability in the region. Before creating their own maps of peace, the participants will expand their leadership skills and knowledge through mutual motivation and encouragement to participate in transitional justice processes in BiH. This will not only create a more prosperous and stable society in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but will also inspire future generations of young women to rise up and follow their dreams.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

“NO ONE CAN MAKE YOU FEEL INFERIOR WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

(1) “Camp 1325” is not exactly an ordinary summer camp. It is a powerful intergenerational space where young women gather with pioneers of the women’s movement from the former Yugoslavia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, our heroines – survivors of sexual violence during the war in BiH. The aim of the camp is to raise awareness and create positive changes by encouraging the political activism of young women in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

(2) Online workshop “Resolution 1325” – aims to point out the importance of supporting and implementing this resolution in Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the end of this workshop, the participants will get a clearer picture of the fact that those young women are recognized in peace processes as key factors in maintaining stability and peace in society.

(3) Three intergenerational educational workshops with peers and citizens! This is a unique opportunity for young participants to, with mentoring and active support, using the knowledge and skills of Camp 1325, create a stimulating environment for learning, asking questions and sharing meaningful experiences. By participating in educational workshops, you will get opportunities to think, learn and build new skills in a supportive environment. Join us and be part of building a better future for Bosnia and Herzegovina!

(4) Film “Movement 1325 in Bosnia and Herzegovina” – in order to promote the activities and results of the gathering of young girls from Bosnia and Herzegovina and women from the former Yugoslavia, together we will create a script and shoot a project film that will be shown on the International Human Rights Day, December 10, 2023 in Sarajevo. This will give young participants the opportunity to articulate their needs through messages to society and give relevant recommendations to decision makers.

Our project activities are rooted in the empowerment of young women, and we sincerely look forward to welcoming and involving the participants in building a better and brighter future for women in BiH.
