Minister Pavić Pečenković Meets with Representatives of the “Forgotten Children ofWar” Association and the War Victims Association “Foča 92-95”

Enda Pavić Pečenković, Minister for Labor, Social Policy, Displaced Persons, and
Refugees of Sarajevo Canton, held a meeting with representatives of the Forgotten
Children of War Association, including President Ajna Jusić and Legal Consultant
Merjem Muhadžić, as well as Midheta Kaloper, President of the War Victims
Association “Foča 92-95”.

The discussion focused on the Law on the Protection of Civilian War Victims in the
Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which officially recognizes the category of
“children born of rape.” The meeting also addressed the existing resources within the
Sarajevo Canton social protection system that could be utilized by members of these
associations.

Representatives of the “Forgotten Children of War Association” highlighted
employment and housing issues as key challenges for their members, along with the
need to establish a registry containing data on this group. Meanwhile, the President
of the War Victims Association “Foča 92-95” emphasized that housing and access to
spa treatment were the most urgent concerns for her members.

Minister Pavić Pečenković stated that her ministry would soon begin harmonizing the
Law on Social Protection, the Protection of Civilian War Victims, and the Protection of
Families with Children in accordance with the provisions of the Law on the Protection
of Civilian War Victims in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She also
underscored the importance of connecting these associations with social protection
institutions in Sarajevo Canton and informed them about the Ministry’s funding
mechanisms for non-governmental organizations.

“I believe it takes great courage to speak publicly about such sensitive issues,
especially for the members of your association. However, raising awareness is the
only way to ensure these groups receive the protection they deserve. I commend you
for your efforts, and the Ministry will always support your work within its jurisdiction”,
concluded Minister Pavić Pečenković.
